I met up with Rob for our first East Canyon fishing trip of the year. We arrived to the reservoir at sunrise and had 5 to 6 inches of safe ice. We walked across the reservoir from where we parked and set up in our usual spot. The fishing was slower than it's been here in years past but we still iced 15 rainbows using a variety of jigs. As always, the one I had the most success on was a pink 1/80 oz. round jig head tipped with a wax worm (www.jamminjigs.com). White and Chartreuse worked as well. The coolest part of the day was seeing a bald eagle come down out of the trees and steal one of our trout off the ice. I wish I would have had my camera ready to get pictures. We also saw a group of 5 bald eagles in a tree and some wild turkeys on the way home.

Just catching up on your recent ice fishing posts. Looks like you are off to a good start on some good ice. Those 'bows look really good. Glad to see you enjoying the ice fishing. Happy hook ups in 2011, Rick!
